Product Overview

  • SIKA Ceram-88 is a one-pack premixed cementitious tile adhesive (often referred to as “cement gum”) formulated with cement, polymers, quartz minerals, and special additives. It’s designed to deliver strong adhesion for tiles on various substrates

  • High Adhesion: Bonds well with concrete, cementitious mortar, bricks, and tiled surfaces. For improved performance, it can be mixed with SikaLatex-118 or SikaLatex-88
  • Ideal for ceramic, mosaic, porcelain (when mixed with SikaLatex), and homogeneous tiles
  • Layer Thickness: Apply in thin layers, between 3 mm and 10 mm
  • Shelf Life & Storage: Lasts up to 6 months when stored sealed and dry, and is frost-resistant
  • Color & Texture: Comes as a grey powder with a maximum grain size of 1.2 mm
  • Adhesion Strength: Achieves a tensile adhesion strength of at least 0.5 N/mm² under standard conditions

Mixing & Application Guidelines

  • Mixing Ratio: Use approximately 5.5–6.0 L of water per 25 kg bag
  • Open time: Around 20 minutes under normal conditions—may be shorter in hot or dry settings
  • Tile Adjustment: You have about 20 minutes to adjust tiles after placing

  • Ready for jointing: 24 hours

  • Light foot traffic: 24 hours

  • Full traffic load: 7 days (SikaCeram-88 EM specs; general Ceram-88 may vary slightly)

  • Application Tips: Use the Tarver method—press, slide perpendicular, and slide return—to minimize trapped air. For lipped or grooved tiles, apply adhesive to both substrate and back of tile (“back-buttering”)
